DISINFECTION
w3Synergy supplies disinfection equipment including ultraviolet light, ozone and chemical addition to kill any remaining pathogens including parasites, bacteria, or viruses.
Ultraviolet (UV)
UV technology disinfects water as it runs through a stainless-steel chamber containing a UV lamp. As water flows past the lamp, illness-causing microorganisms receive a lethal dose of UV light that attacks their DNA and eliminates their ability to reproduce. The UV system provides over 40 mJ/cm2 UV dose to inactivate chlorine-resistant parasites such as Cryptosporidium and Giardia, harmful bacteria like E.Coli, and viruses.
w3Synergy UV system consists of the following components:
-
UV chamber
-
Controller with user interface
-
Real-time dosimetry
-
Instrumentation (UV intensity, flow, pressure)
-
Powder-coated steel frame

Ozone
Ozone technology involves the use of ozone generators which produce ozone first by compressing ambient air, then separating it out and concentrating the oxygen. Then the oxygen runs through a high-voltage device, called a corona. The generator then “injects” the gaseous ozone into the water using negative pressure or a vacuum. As water flows through the injector, the ozone disinfects the water by oxidizing bacteria, viruses and cysts.
A tank located immediately downstream of the injection manifold provides sufficient contact time for the oxidation reactions to occur. The residual level of ozone is monitored after this tank to ensure a sufficient level of dissolved ozone (~0.4 ppm) is maintained.
Off-gas from the contact tank is vented to an ozone destruction unit to remove ozone. An ambient ozone monitor detects if a leak or too much off-gassing occurs.
w3Synergy Ozone system consists of the following components:
-
Ozone Generator
-
Oxygen Concentrator
-
Ozone contact tank
-
Ozone offgas destruction
-
Ozone monitor
-
Repressure pump w/VFD (option)
-
Instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, dissolved ozone)
-
Controller with user interface
-
Steel skid frame

Chemical
w3Synergy supplies chemical metering pumps mounted on a day tank to inject disinfectant (e.g. chlorine, bromine) into the manifold as a final post-treatment step.
w3Synergy chemical feed equipment consists of the following components:
-
Chemical metering pump
-
Dual containment tank
-
Level switch
-
Injection port or quill
-
Static Mixer
-
Instrumentation (varies)
